The best dog-friendly trails and park connectors in Singapore (2026)

A dog trotting along a shaded green nature trail in Singapore

A trail outing does not have to be an endurance test. Choose a permitted section with an easy way back, enough water and room to share the path. These entries help you compare routes while identifying where an attractive connection is not open to dogs.

  1. A metal forest walkway curving through dense greenery, with a visitor on the path.

Trail . Telok Blangah / Pasir Panjang

    Southern Ridges Trail

    4.6 (3,429 reviews)

Open now Friday: Open 24 hours

The Southern Ridges links hill parks and walking routes, so plan a suitable section rather than treating the advertised 10-kilometre network as one uninterrupted dog trail. NParks’ guide includes leashed pets, while current Labrador guidance excludes pets from the nature reserve. Choose open park sections, check notices for the exact route and keep your dog on lead. Berlayer Creek Boardwalk is closed for works, with reopening not yet confirmed; it should not be used as a connecting dog walk. Slopes, steps, exposed stretches and the return journey can matter more than distance alone. Carry water and waste bags, build in breaks and choose a short return option that suits your dog. Restaurant and transport admission must be checked separately.

Bringing your dog: Open pet-permitted park sections of Route A through Mount Faber, Telok Blangah Hill, HortPark and Kent Ridge, subject to current notices. Dogs on lead. No Labrador Nature Reserve or closed Berlayer Creek Boardwalk. Source (checked 2026-10-30).

  2. A dog at Henderson Waves in Singapore.

    Trail . Mount Faber

    Henderson Waves

    4.7 (634 reviews)

Open now Friday: Open 24 hours

Henderson Waves is the 274-metre pedestrian bridge linking the Mount Faber and Telok Blangah sections of the Southern Ridges. Its curved wooden structure creates sheltered places to pause, but the approach can be a much bigger walk than the bridge itself. Plan your start point around your dog’s fitness rather than assuming every route is level. NParks’ Southern Ridges guide asks visitors to leash pets and clean up after them. Keep the lead short enough to share the bridge comfortably with walkers, and move aside for photographs without blocking the path. The current bridge page lists decorative lighting from 7pm to 2am; this is not a promise that every onward trail is lit or open. Check current notices before extending the walk.

Bringing your dog: NParks Southern Ridges guidance requires pets to remain leashed. This supports the shared walking route, not unrestricted access to every linked attraction, restaurant or nature reserve. Source (checked 2026-09-12).

  3. A dog at Rail Corridor Central in Singapore.

    Trail . Hillview

    Rail Corridor Central

    4.6 (211 reviews)

Open now Friday: 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM

Rail Corridor Central. Around Bukit Timah, the former railway provides heritage landmarks and links between neighbourhoods. The Rail Corridor is distinct from the adjacent nature reserve; the earlier cat description wrongly implied reserve access. Use the current access and diversion maps, stay on the open corridor and do not enter adjoining reserve trails with a dog. The corridor is unlit at night; NParks recommends leaving before dark. Plan a shorter return walk rather than relying on a continuous north-to-south passage. Keep your dog beside you at crossings and when other path users pass. Choose a short return route that fits your dog’s condition, carry water and a bowl, and change the plan if the weather or your dog makes it unsuitable. Shade and a sea breeze are not guarantees against overheating.

Bringing your dog: Dogs: leashed on permitted paths. Cats: admission not established. Observe local exclusions. Source (checked 2026-09-12).

  4. A dog at Rail Corridor South in Singapore.

    Trail . Bukit Timah

    Rail Corridor South

    4.6 (97 reviews)

Rail Corridor South. The section between Henderson Road and Spooner Road is closed for trail improvement works. The operator’s current FAQ gives 31 July 2027 as an expected Phase 2 completion date, not a guaranteed reopening. Jalan Kilang Barat to Henderson Road has reopened. 5. A calm dog on a leash on a shaded trail at West Coast Park Connector in West Coast / Pasir Panjang, Singapore, dappled rainforest light through the canopy.

Trail . West Coast / Pasir Panjang

    West Coast Park Connector

    4.3 (3 reviews)

Open now Friday: Open 24 hours

West Coast Park Connector is the 3.1 km link from West Coast Park along West Coast Road to Pandan Gardens Park Connector, with a connection to Clementi Woods. It is not the previously described seafront route through Pasir Panjang to Labrador. The old suggestion to continue with a dog into Labrador Nature Reserve was incorrect and has been removed. Plan from the official connector map. Nearby cafés need an outlet-specific pet check; no blanket outdoor-table permission is established.

  6. A dog at Bedok Reservoir Park Connector in Singapore.

    Trail . Bedok

    Bedok Reservoir Park Connector

    4.5 (3,912 reviews)

Open now Friday: 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM

The reservoir-side outing in this listing is at Bedok Reservoir Park, a former quarry and part of the Eastern Coastal Loop. The park includes waterfront paths and connections into the surrounding neighbourhood. The stored name should not be read as a separately verified 5–10 km connector. Select your section on the park map and allow for the return journey. Water sports and reservoir access are not an invitation for a pet to swim; nearby businesses set their own admission rules. Keep your dog beside you at crossings and when other path users pass. Choose a short return route that fits your dog’s condition, carry water and a bowl, and change the plan if the weather or your dog makes it unsuitable. Shade and a sea breeze are not guarantees against overheating.

  7. A curved boardwalk beside Punggol Waterway, with trees, planting beds and a parallel path.

    Trail . Punggol

    Punggol Waterway Park Connector

    4.5 (2,634 reviews)

Open now Friday: Open 24 hours

Punggol Waterway Park runs through Punggol town along Sentul Crescent, with Nature Cove, Recreation Zone, Heritage Zone and Green Gallery. The Kelong Bridge recalls the area’s fishing history, while Jewel Bridge is a useful landmark for planning a shorter walk. This listing is a waterway outing, not a guarantee that every approach to Coney Island is open or pet-permitted. Check the separate destination before extending the walk. Use the park map to choose your entry and exit, and keep away from wildlife. Keep your dog beside you at crossings and when other path users pass. Choose a short return route that fits your dog’s condition, carry water and a bowl, and change the plan if the weather or your dog makes it unsuitable. Shade and a sea breeze are not guarantees against overheating.

Bringing your dog: Open permitted Punggol Waterway public walking paths. Keep dogs leashed, observe signs and closures; no off-leash permission, dog swimming or visiting-cat rule established. Source (checked 2026-10-30).

  8. A dog at Tanjong Rhu Park Connector in Singapore.

    Trail . Tanjong Rhu

    Tanjong Rhu Park Connector

    4.8 (24 reviews)

Open now Friday: Open 24 hours

Tanjong Rhu Promenade Park Connector follows the waterfront from Tanjong Rhu Bridge towards Benjamin Sheares Bridge and Bay East Garden. NParks lists the connector at 2.01 km, not a compulsory 5–10 km outing. Pick an access point and turn around before your companion becomes tired; nearby restaurants and attractions need their own pet-policy checks.

A named route is not blanket permission

The Southern Ridges network includes permitted park sections as well as links towards Labrador Nature Reserve, where pets are prohibited. Henderson Waves and the permitted park walking routes do not establish access to every trail on the same map. The Rail Corridor entries likewise refer to permitted leashed sections subject to local exclusions and works.

Check the official map before making a loop

Use NParks’ dog-access exclusions and the individual route notices. MacRitchie and Lower Peirce trails are among the excluded routes; do not assume reservoir-edge walking is allowed. Confirm both the outward and return route rather than relying on the first permitted segment. Temporary closures may remove the connection you planned to use.

Choose distance around your dog

Start with a length you can comfortably shorten. A young dog does not need a long ridge walk simply to tire them out, and a flat connector is not automatically suitable for every older dog. Consider current fitness, mobility, weather, steps and transport home. If you are managing illness, recovery or joint pain, use your vet’s activity advice. There is no universal safe kilometre target.

Shade helps planning but does not promise safety

Trees, boardwalks and breezes do not establish a safe surface temperature or protect against all heat illness. Avoid exposed or hot sections, carry water for both of you and turn back early if needed. Do not ration the return journey by waiting for half the dog’s water to run out. See the heat-safety guide before choosing a longer outing.

Share the route and have an exit

Keep your dog controlled and leashed, allow space for cyclists and other walkers, and do not approach or feed wildlife. Check crossings, lighting and how you would leave part-way through. The individual records below provide route sources and unresolved access limits. Read them as planning evidence, not a claim that we walked every surface or that every connected attraction permits pets.

Quick answers

Can I walk the entire Southern Ridges with a dog?
Do not assume every connected section permits pets. Check the exact route, current closures and the Labrador Nature Reserve exclusion. Choose open, pet-permitted park sections.
Is a shaded trail safe later in the morning?
Shade alone does not make an outing safe. Assess temperature, humidity, surface and your dog’s response, and choose a shorter or different activity when conditions are unsuitable.
How long should a dog trail walk be?
Match the outing to the individual dog and conditions, with an easy return. There is no distance suitable for all dogs; seek veterinary advice for medical or mobility limits.
Do route listings guarantee current access?
No. Check official notices and on-site barriers. Permission for one path does not establish permission for every adjoining nature area, attraction or business.
