Dog cost calculator

Make a practical plan for your dog, with room for everyday care and the unexpected.

MAKE ROOM FOR A LIFE TOGETHER

A budget you can make your own.

Start with everyday care. Add the things you still need, then see how different choices change the years ahead.

Choose a starting point

Choosing a breed supplies starting estimates, not a promise about your individual dog. Use this button to replace food, grooming, vet and boarding-rate amounts with the selected starting figures; other choices stay as entered.

Your household and timeline

The time horizon is your choice, not a lifespan prediction. The increase is a scenario assumption, not a measured Singapore inflation rate. Licence fees stay fixed in this model.

Everyday care, per dog

Starting figures use the Medium dog allowance. These are planning estimates, not quotes. Replace the amounts with your receipts or current quotes. Use 0 for items you will not pay for.

Routine vet is a budget allowance, not an annual vaccination instruction. Insurance premiums do not include excesses, exclusions or uncovered treatment.

Licensing and sterilisation

Planning surgery means one annual unsterilised licence in year one, then a new lifetime licence in year two. This is a budgeting scenario, not advice on surgery timing. Existing lifetime licences add no new fee. Check your actual licence and vet plan.

Adjust licence charges for rebates or special eligibility

Standard fees checked 11 September 2026: AVS fee table ↗. Defaults are before payment rebates, use annual unsterilised or lifetime sterilised licences, and include higher fourth-and-subsequent fees. Adjust for eligible concessions, pets under five months, existing multi-year licences or other arrangements. A budget does not establish housing permission.

One-off costs still ahead, per dog

Set included adoption-package items and things already paid for to 0. No percentage “puppy uplift” is added.

The surgery amount is only counted for “Planning sterilisation”. All other setup items are counted once in year one.

Savings are not assumed spending. Choose your own reserve; emergencies and chronic care may cost more. This target is shown separately and is not multiplied by the number of pets.

Figures are rounded for display; calculations retain decimals. Care costs grow at your chosen rate. One-off costs and statutory licence fees are not inflated.

Give your budget room to breathe.

These are editable starting allowances inherited from the earlier calculator, not verified market averages or guaranteed prices. Compare current providers and your own experience. The breed selection supplies starting figures where available; individual needs can differ.

Dental treatment, unexpected illness, long-term medication, transport, replacement equipment and end-of-life arrangements may need additional allowances. Enter home-proofing and acquisition costs rather than assuming they are free. Verify what an adoption package includes before adding microchipping or surgery again.

For different needs within a multi-pet household, make separate budgets and combine them. This version applies the same care and setup choices to each pet; licence fees account for the household count you enter.
