Where to take your dog in Singapore when it rains (2026)

A dog resting under a covered outdoor walkway in Singapore during light rain

A rainy day needs two checks: where your dog is actually allowed to sit, and whether the journey is sensible in the weather. Indoor pet seating, a sheltered outdoor terrace and an unconfirmed arrangement are different things. Use the current venue notes below rather than assuming every older recommendation is an indoor refuge. Our covered outdoor cafe guide offers another way to compare options.

  1. Dog enjoying time at Glasshouse in Singapore.

    Cafe . City Hall

    Glasshouse

    4.3 (1,325 reviews)

Open now Monday: 8:00 AM - 9:00 PM

The Glasshouse is the brunch-and-coffee cafe at CHIJMES unit 01-03. Its glass-walled dining room should not be treated as an indoor dog refuge: the estate’s published pet rules exclude indoor areas. Independent cafe coverage describes the venue as dog-friendly, but the reviewed operator information does not resolve where a visiting dog may sit. Call before making this your destination and ask for an outdoor pet table, its weather protection and any size conditions. We have removed the previous promises of indoor access and supplied water.

Bringing your dog: CHIJMES confirms The Glasshouse at unit 01-03 but does not name it in the reviewed selected pet-dining list. Independent cafe coverage lists it as dog-friendly without resolving the permitted area. The estate sign excludes pets indoors. Ask the cafe specifically whether it currently offers pet-friendly outdoor tables; the absence of its name is not proof of a complete pet ban. Source (checked 2026-09-12).

  2. Dog enjoying time at Rey’s Homeground in Singapore.

    Cafe . Serangoon Gardens

    Rey's Homeground

    4.8 (17 reviews)

    Closed now Monday: Closed

Rey's Homeground is a neighbourhood cafe at 10 Serangoon Garden Way. HandyPet reports dog-friendly visits on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays, 9am to 4:30pm; confirm the session before travelling. Independent visitor coverage describes a dog play area, but seating descriptions differ, so do not assume the entire cafe is indoor, air-conditioned or off-leash. Ask where you and your dog can sit, which play area is available and what supervision and leash rules apply. Bring water and a bowl rather than relying on an unconfirmed service. If your dog finds close encounters difficult, ask about quieter times and an easy exit before committing to brunch.

Bringing your dog: Independent listings support visiting dogs at this exact address. They do not consistently establish indoor versus outdoor seating or the leash rules for a separate play area. Cat admission, size limits, shelter and supplied water remain unconfirmed. The operator Instagram profile could be identified but its current policy posts were not readable. 3. Five corgis sitting on colourful chairs beneath a Menage Cafe banner.

    Cafe . Bishan

    Menage Cafe (Pet Friendly)

    4.4 (502 reviews)

    Closed now Monday: Closed

Menage Cafe at 6 Sin Ming Road is designed around indoor dining with pets, rather than placing every dog at an outside table. Independent visits describe a spacious indoor cafe, Western-style food for people and a separate dog menu. Check the current menu ingredients and portion with staff rather than assuming every dish suits your dog. Ask about the house rules for movement, restraints and interactions with other animals; reports of dogs roaming during a past visit are not permission to release yours on arrival. An indoor room can still be busy or exciting, so choose a quieter service if your dog needs more distance. This is the Sin Ming branch, not a Telok Kurau venue. Multiple independent visits support indoor pet dining at Sin Ming Road, and a species-specific directory includes cats. Reports identify a dog menu, but a specific recipe or nutritional suitability was not assessed here. Free roaming described by some visitors is not treated as an unconditional off-leash rule; confirm current house rules and available space.

  4. A large dog resting on the covered outdoor terrace of Under Der Linden at the colonial-bungalow strip on Portsdown Road, Singapore, with the bistro's warm timber interior visible inside.

    Cafe . One-North

    Under Der Linden

    4.3 (785 reviews)

Closed now Monday: 11:00 AM - 9:00 PM

Under Der Linden’s website explicitly invites guests to bring their pup to its Portsdown restaurant. Its garden and colonial setting offer a distinctive backdrop, but those design descriptions do not establish which tables accept dogs. Ask for the permitted seating area and weather arrangements when booking. Private celebrations and restaurant dining can have different arrangements, so confirm your particular visit rather than relying on a general welcome.

Bringing your dog: Official website invites visitors to bring their pup and describes the restaurant as pet-friendly. It does not define indoor, terrace or cat access in the reviewed statement. Source (checked 2026-09-12).

  5. A calm dog resting at its owner's feet inside The Urban Hideout in Springside / Yishun, Singapore, with a ceramic water bowl on the warm wooden floor and soft natural light.

    Cafe . Springside / Yishun

    The Urban Hideout

    4.4 (476 reviews)

    Closed now Monday: Closed

The Urban Hideout at 60 Springside Walk offers indoor pet dining, rather than only the outdoor patio previously described here. Its published booking FAQ says pets may join owners in air-conditioning and must be leashed. Tell the team during booking if your dog needs extra space; they offer to try to accommodate requests, not guarantee a quiet corner. Brunch, coffee and gelato make this a potential meal stop, while a separate PAWFF pet menu has been reported. Check the current ingredients and portion before ordering for a dog with allergies or a prescribed diet. Use the booking page or the listed telephone contact: the former standalone website redirected elsewhere when checked.

Bringing your dog: The booking FAQ explicitly allows pets indoors in air-conditioning and requires leads. Request the indoor area when booking; special seating is subject to availability. Source (checked 2026-10-17).

  6. Stella Seaside Lounge outdoor dining tables, striped daybeds and pool on a timber deck beside the sea.

    Cafe . Changi

    Stella Seaside Lounge

    4.2 (2,688 reviews)

    Closed now Monday: Closed

Stella Seaside Lounge at 11 Changi Coast Walk offers designated outdoor pet seating. Its Sofa Lounge booking is unsheltered, and the operator cannot guarantee a covered replacement if it rains. Dogs must stay leashed, and a mat or towel is required on furniture. Weekend and public-holiday sofa bookings have a S$150++ minimum spend per sofa; check the precise terms before reserving, including cancellation and cleaning charges. Choose a visit that suits your dog’s tolerance for an exposed coastal setting, bring water and an exit plan, and do not assume the pet invitation covers every dining area or pool.

Bringing your dog: Designated pet-friendly outdoor zones only, subject to availability. Sofa lounges unsheltered. Leash required, mat or towel for furniture, no guaranteed sheltered replacement in rain. Read current sofa/group booking terms. Source (checked 2026-10-30).

  7. A riverside dining table with white chairs, Greek dishes and drinks beside pink flowers at Zorba.

    Cafe . Clarke Quay

    Zorba The Greek Taverna

    4.4 (2,157 reviews)

Closed now Monday: 11:30 AM - 10:30 PM

Zorba The Greek Taverna describes itself as pet-friendly and offers a riverside Greek dining spot. That supports considering it for a shared outing, with the exact seating area and individual handling conditions still to be arranged. Before booking, ask exactly where the pet table is, whether it is covered in wet weather and what leash or carrier arrangements apply. A pet-friendly label alone does not establish water bowls, a pet menu, unrestricted indoor access or a verified welfare standard.

Bringing your dog: Pet-friendly riverside dining. Request the allocated dog table. Indoor access, cat arrangements, size, water, shelter and pet-menu terms remain unconfirmed. Source (checked 2026-10-30).

  8. A large dog resting beside its owner at the covered outdoor terrace of Tomahawk Steakhouse at Novena Gardens on Thomson Road, Singapore, with the restaurant's warm interior and steaks on display visible inside.

    Cafe . Novena

    Tomahawk (Novena)

    4.3 (699 reviews)

    Closed now Monday: 12:00 - 3:00 PM, 6:00 - 10:00 PM

Tomahawk expressly identifies its Novena outlet as dog-friendly on the official website. The welcome is outlet-specific: do not transfer it to another branch or assume it includes every table. When reserving, ask where your dog will sit, whether that space is sheltered or indoors, and what happens in wet weather. The steakhouse’s food offering is for people; a human steak meal is not a suitable basis for choosing a dog treat.

  9. Surrey Hills Grocer at VivoCity, with its curved exterior, illustrated windows and palms beside the entrance.

    Cafe . HarbourFront

    Surrey Hills Grocer (VivoCity)

    4.7 (1,340 reviews)

Closed now Monday: 10:00 AM - 10:00 PM

Surrey Hills Grocer’s official directory specifically marks VivoCity as pet-friendly. Use the outlet at 1 HarbourFront Walk, #03-02 when enquiring, because the brand’s branches do not all carry the same pet label. Ask where your dog will sit and whether that area is sheltered or indoors. Reservations, size conditions and wet-weather arrangements need confirmation before you travel.

Bringing your dog: General pet welcome confirmed for the VivoCity branch only. Exact seating area, approach through the mall, restraint, size and wet-weather arrangements require confirmation with the outlet. Source (checked 2026-10-30).

  10. A dog standing beside its owner at the outdoor terrace of Hopscotch bar at Bayfront Plaza, Gardens by the Bay, Singapore, with the Supertrees and Marina Bay skyline visible in the distance.

Cafe . Gardens by the Bay

    Hopscotch (Gardens by the Bay)

    4.6 (1,271 reviews)

    Closed now Monday: 12:00 - 2:30 PM, 5:00 - 10:00 PM

Hopscotch at Bayfront Plaza combines Singapore-inspired cocktails with grilled food, with independently reported dog seating outdoors under shelter. It can be a meal stop during an outing, but it is not a confirmed indoor refuge from a storm. Ask for the pet-permitted area and mention your dog when reserving. The operator currently lists a 10pm close for this branch, with a Wednesday afternoon service break; the earlier midnight promise belonged to the wrong schedule. Bring your own water and keep the shared route clear. Gardens by the Bay has separate dog-access rules, so restaurant permission does not extend to its conservatories or other excluded attractions. Independent species-specific listings support dogs and cats at sheltered outdoor tables at this Bayfront Plaza branch. They do not support the old indoor-permission claim. The current operator lists closing at 10pm, not midnight; Wednesday has a service break. A visitor’s water-bowl report is not a guaranteed amenity.

Indoor seating and outdoor shelter are different

A roof above a terrace does not make it an indoor dining room or protect every table from wind-driven rain. Check the specific pet-permitted area when booking, including whether the approach from your drop-off is covered. The current venue notes distinguish reported permission from unresolved questions; inclusion in an older list is not itself verification.

SFA’s outdoor-dining change did not create unrestricted pet access. It applies to eligible outdoor refreshment areas, while hawker-centre exclusions remain. Confirm each business’s conditions rather than assuming that every sheltered table permits dogs.

Hopscotch at Gardens by the Bay is reported to seat pets outdoors under shelter, not generally indoors. Its operator currently lists a 10pm close, with a Wednesday afternoon service break. Other branches have different hours. A coffee academy or appointment-only business should not be treated as a walk-in cafe merely because it appeared in a former directory.

Getting a wet dog through the door well

Bring a towel and dry wet paws in a safe, permitted spot without blocking the entrance. Ask where your dog can rest, keep the service path clear and use a familiar mat if it helps. A crowded or noisy refuge may be a poor choice for a dog already frightened by thunder. Staying safely at home can be the better outing plan. If you do travel, confirm the exact pet area, service time and weather arrangements for that date; do not assume an outdoor booking becomes indoor permission when rain starts.

Before you commit to the journey

Ask what happens if weather reaches the permitted table. A venue may be unable to move a pet party indoors even when it can reseat other diners. Confirm cancellation or deposit terms, plan a safe journey home and bring a towel, drinking supplies and a familiar mat. Avoid blocking doors while drying your dog.

A quiet activity at home can be the better plan during a storm. Dogs Trust recommends keeping dogs indoors during severe weather, allowing a familiar hiding place and offering reassurance when sought. Do not force a frightened dog to socialise as a way of teaching them to cope. Discuss repeated noise fear with a vet, who can assess health and help arrange suitable behavioural support.

Quick answers

Are all the places in this guide indoor dog venues?
No. Current evidence distinguishes indoor permission, sheltered outdoor seating and unresolved arrangements. Check the individual venue note and confirm the exact table before travelling.
Does a sheltered terrace count as indoors?
No. A covered outdoor area can still be exposed to wind and rain, and its access rules differ from an enclosed dining room.
Is Hopscotch at Gardens by the Bay open until midnight?
Its current operator page lists a 10pm close for this branch, with a Wednesday afternoon service break. Check the current schedule for your date; do not use another branch’s hours.
Should I take a thunder-frightened dog out to a cafe?
A storm outing is not a treatment for noise fear. Keep your dog safe in a familiar environment, offer appropriate reassurance and seek veterinary advice about persistent fear.
